Our most recent happy adoptions!

Wouldn't you like to see your photo here too?

December 28, 2009
Stacy, Maverick, Gabriel, Marina, Trinity, Kasey, and Leo. Can't forget Toby the cat who is waiting at home. It's hard to tell from the angle, but this guy fit the bill for Maverick...the bigger the hound, the better! Leo arrived from Tuscon on December 26 and we knew immediately that he would be the perfect match for this family. We were right--they are in love already!

December 26, 2009
What a long legged beauty! Chance arrived from Tuscon on the 26th and went home with his new mom that very day. Joi and Chance live in Hidden Valley Lake. Hopefully they will meet all the other WCGA greyhounds in Hidden Valley.

December 20, 2009
With a racing name as cool as Captain James Kirk, how could one think of changing it?! Rosemary and Bob of Sebastopol will call their new boy Kirk. It didn't take long for Kirk to settle in. In fact, he played with all the dog toys at his new house during their Home Visit--before he was officially adopted!

December 19, 2009
How perfect these two look together! Joan took just a moment to wrap her head around the idea of adopting an older dog, but after meeting Rx Supersonic and a few other senior greyhounds, Joan welcomed her new brood matron (used for breeding) with open arms. Supersonic is now Annabelle and she lives with Joan in Forestville.

December 7, 2009
Christine and Ross of Napa adopted Betsy (right) last September. They decided Betsy would enjoy the company of a greyhound friend. After reading Calla's description, they knew she would be the perfect fit to welcome into their family, including their grandchildren. These happy greyhound girls are sure to become the best of friends!

November 21, 2009
Sandy of Santa Rosa is another adopter who spent a lot of time considering a greyhound companion. She was especially concerned about how her kitties would feel about a canine addition to the family. Persia was just happy to be in a permanent home and she is thrilled with all the love and attention she is getting.

November 7, 2009
Will of Healdsburg spent a long time thinking about adopting a retired racer and now the time is right. Cruel Girl, now Cleo, just happened to be available and she also happened to be the perfect girl for Will!

October 9, 2009
Eleanor and Rich of Little River (on the Mendocino Coast) have been patiently waiting to meet the boy that was brought in from Oklahoma specifically for them. Bookers, now James, sure was worth the wait. He hugs his super long, soft neck around everyone he meets.

October 9, 2009
Dee and Kurt of Sebastopol were given a choice between two greyhounds...mellow and 5 1/2 years or an 18 month old puppy. Raine, now Sophie, is the puppy and she'll definitely keep them on their toes for awhile. Sophie is a sweet girl who loves to steal things and gets along great with children. Dee's grandchildren will love her!

September 30, 2009
Dara or Pw's Osprey came to Wine Country on September 26 and we just knew she would be the right dog for Kellie of Sebastopol. Open your eyes, Alice, you're home!

September 21, 2009
Tom and Nancy of Santa Rosa patiently waited a couple weeks to meet their new greyhound from Tuscon. Hank the Tank is anything but a tank--in fact he needs to gain quite a few pounds! This boy is a little rough around the edges, but he will be a looker in no time!

September 26, 2009
6 year old Daredevil Bonnie was described as "eager to crawl in your lap for kisses." And she just happened to be black to match Brinkley. Bonnie is now Marin and she is at home with Kay and Brinkley in Sacramento.

September 26, 2009
Bullheaded came from Tuscon on September 19. After a brief stay in foster care, it was determined he would be a very nice fit for Carl and Todd of San Francisco. Now Bullheaded is Buddy and he is living right by a dogpark in the city. We have a feeling Buddy will be very spoiled!

September 26, 2009
Jennifer couldn't be happier with My Lollipop, who is now Myka. Of course, Jen would have been happy with any greyhound--size, age, gender--she was open to anything. The only requirement was that her dog needed to live with a cat. We are excited to have another retired greyhound in Napa.

September 26, 2009
No, she's not a Weimaraner...Talulah is a blue greyhound. Don't Sheri and Talulah of Napa make an elegant pair? Sheri has waited a long time to add another greyhound to her family and this little girl is the perfect match.

September 25, 2009
Andra and Charlie of Cottonwood have been very excited about adopting their first greyhound. Curious Mavis is now Lily and is slowly acclimating to being an only dog. The local greyhounds are helping to ease Lily into this, but, hmmm, maybe a second greyhound is on the horizon!

September 21, 2009
Chris and Ross were quite impressed with Red Cadence the day they met her--they knew she would do just fine with their grandkids, which was the one concern they had with adopting a dog sight-unseen. Cadence is now Betsy and she is happy to be retired and living in Napa.

 August 16, 2009
Rio now has a new greyhound girlfriend! Israel and Kristy of Rohnert Park adopted Rio last year and have been fostering dogs for us since then. Mia the cowdog must have been "the one." Baby Noah is thrilled to have another greyhound to rub his tiny hands on.

August 7, 2009
Mary and Rae Jean of Chico found Miss Millie on Petfinders. We love placing the older brood matrons in nice cushy homes and Mary and Rae Jean's place certainly qualifiies! Millie is now known as Gracie and she shares a wonderful home and yard with her canine companions, Sophie, Molly, and Riley the Greyhound.

June 28, 2009
WCGA sure seems to foster an atmosphere for failures! Liz of Santa Rosa took Special Partner home with the thought she was going to do something good for the greyhounds by providing a temporary foster home. Once she saw her sweet foster's photo on the Available Greyhound Page, it was too much to take realizing "Bitty" could be adopted out at any time. Bitty now has a wonderful, permanent home with Liz and Liz has joined the Foster Failure Club.

July 29, 2008
Yes, the date is correct! Kelly went home with Lee, Peter, and Scott in July as a foster dog. Kelly, the atypical greyhound, worked quickly to cast her spell on her people and within weeks, she was no longer a mere foster dog. Lee has worked so hard for WCGA with Peter and Scott as her supporting cast. From foster, to Meet & Greet coordinator, to microchipper and dog bather, Lee is up for just about anything.

June 16, 2009
It sure didn't take Blazin' Quick long to find a forever home. Quick is now Xena, and if you can't tell which one she is, she's the pretty one. Rob and Dave of Santa Rosa are great examples of how fostering a greyhound can work out well for adopter and for WCGA. Xena was their fifth foster dog and the one they decided to adopt. They are great foster parents and will continue to provide this invaluable service for us in the future.

June 8, 2009
Thank goodness Susan and Jack of Windsor adopted Gulf War two days after her arrival because, along with a wonderful new permanent home, she was also given a more appropriate name! War is now Jasmine or Jaz for short. Trey, Jack, and Susan are enjoying Jaz (foreground) while Jot is making sure her mom doesn't forget about her!

June 7, 2009
Deanne of Sacramento came to meet the dogs arriving from Oklahoma during our Retirement Party. Her friend was going to foster Harley, the craziest dog of all. Deanne fell in love with the nutty countersurfer and Julie agreed he would be a nice addition to their family. Harmony can be less than harmonious with other dogs at times, but apparently she gets along with Harley just fine. He must know his place in the pack!

June 6, 2009
Kay has been anticipating the arrival of Cricket Express for weeks. She wanted an older boy and we were able to select the perfect dog. He will get along well with Natalie the Greyhound and he should be able to keep up with Kay and Natalie on their walks. Cricket is now Brinkley and is very happy to be at home in Sacramento.

June 6, 2009
We couldn't have found a nicer boy for one of the nicest ladies in Sacramento. Xaviar is finally settled with Mary Lynne and Elly May (on the left) and his new name is Mojave. If it were up to Mary Lynne, she would adopt every single one of her foster dogs, but someone must have been watching out for Mojave. Just as her last foster found a home, Mojave became available for adoption and Mary Lynne scooped him up. She may have fostered him for eight hours before deciding to keep him!

May 30, 2009
Failing isn't always a bad thing...just ask Dan, Anna, and Leah of Santa Rosa! Bridie has been their foster dog since February and they just decided it was time to adopt her. Bridie is a shy little girl, but Creed is showing her the ropes and she is coming out of her shell more each day.

May 27, 2009
Well, Clifton and Isabel sure are happy to adopt sweet little Lily! Lily may not look too thrilled at this very instant, but it didn't take her long to become comfortable and relaxed in her new home in Sacramento. Lily's journey from racedog, to the abandoned wanderer, to foster dog, to retired couch potato was a long one. Soon she will know that this is the last stop for her and she can live out her life in peace. Phew!

May 15, 2009
Isn't Ruby cute as a button? Julie and Sean of Windsor were perfectly pleased when they met this little girl on adoption day. Ruby is a lucky girl...she will be joining Julie at the winery during the week. She truly is a Wine Country hound!

April 16, 2009
Everyone seems happy to welcome Happy into their family. Leslie and Doug of Santa Rosa met Happy at the Home Show and knew she was the greyhound for them!

April 4, 2009
Kay and Natalie are two very lucky ladies! Natalie, formerly known as Wahoo Queenie, will head to her new home in Sacramento to meet her new canine siblings, Presley and Paco, while Kay gets to fall in love with this very large, super lovable, highly intelligent, 7 year old brood matron.

April 10, 2009
Jon and Judy of Santa Rosa had the opportunity to adopt a young greyhound, but they opted to bring Legs Oleeta, the 7 year old brood matron, home with them. Leeta is a sweetie and her personality is the perfect fit for Jon and Judy. Surely she will bring them years of happiness.

March 21, 2009
Jetty, previously known as Jet Li is one of the Guam hounds we took in February. His claim to fame is starring in several news clips detailing the plight of the greyhounds in Guam. Happily, Jetty found his forever home in Santa Rosa with Brian, Dana, Berklee and Reilly.

February 21, 2009
Secundus (formerly 'Sean') is heading home to Sacramento with Lynne and John. Not only does he have a new home in California, but he is joining a Historical Society as well! Secundus was selected for Lynne and John because his personality is perfect for participating in events with the Society. The commitment to adopt was made sight unseen, as most of our adoptions are. Once Secundus arrived from Oklahoma, it was love at first sight!

February 21, 2009
Cheerio is now Bella and now lives in Sacramento with Laura and Jack. We knew Bella was young and had a playful personality which makes her the perfect companion for Daisy, their first greyhound. Laura and Jack fell for their new girl the moment they met her. Now we're just wondering when greyhound number three will head their way!

February 21, 2009
Houdini (on the left) came to the United States from Guam. Greyhound Protection League, Greyhounds Friends for Life, and Homestretch Greyhound Adoption all worked very hard to bring the Guam racetrack rescues to the States, and now Houdini is enjoying Wine Country. Gaylynne, David, and their three kids, began by fostering Houdini. It didn't take long before they decided to keep him and change his name to Nebo. Gaylynne and David loved Nebo, but they were still very interested in adopting an outgoing female. Along came Amelia Mae. She had the personality they were looking for and so we added her to our "order" from Oklahoma. Amelia Mae is now known as Shasta. She and Nebo are getting along well and everyone adores them both!

December 20, 2008
Michelle and Phil drove to our Windsor M&G from Nice, California, so they could meet some greyhounds. There, they met many nice greyhounds, but only one who didn't have a home yet. Isis made a great impression and days later she called Nice home. Isis is a brood matron, so we were especially pleased to have found her a new perfect home for Christmas.

December 15, 2008
Whirl Win Tempest (on the left) certainly lives up to her name! She came home as a foster hound and wriggled, wagged, jumped, counter-surfed, and disobediently wormed her way into my heart to become the only hound to make me a "foster failure." Shelby and Sophie have reluctantly accepted Miss Tempest into their home. My son Aiden's excitement about Tempest made up for the girls' indifference.

December 15, 2008
Many of you have read about Canyon and his racing injury. You will be happy to know that he is recovering well from his surgery and he should be good as new by the end of February. Darin and Bill of San Francisco took this sweet boy home for Christmas! Minnie the Boston Terrier seems happy to have a new friend, though Canyon prefers to have Darin around him at all times. No doubt Canyon will be much happier once his cast comes off! Thank you to everyone who donated to Canyon's surgery fund. Your help is appreciated!

December 7, 2008
Claudia and Doug couldn't be happier with Molly, formerly known as Miss Piglet. Molly made herself at home immediately. She learned the stairs and dog door within minutes of arriving. Bailey the 14 year old German Shorthair has been very welcoming, though she was too shy to join in the photo. Molly is going to love an early retirement (she's only 17 months old!) in Cloverdale.

October 25, 2008
Jazzy has a new name along with a new home in Sebastopol. Tom, Rebecca, and their son, are eager to see how 'Bella' will get along with Chloe the Whippet. Surely they will have fun running in their fully fenced vineyard!

September 4, 2008
Chenoa and Jesse were very happy to bring Sleepy Do home to Calistoga. Roxy is a her new name and it suits her much better!

July 21, 2008
After several months in a foster home, The Mighty Quinn knew he had
found his perfect forever home the moment he jumped into Marilyn's van.
He'll be keeping his new buddy Mulligan company in Redding. He adapted
immediately to his new environment and is taking his retirement quite
seriously.

July 19, 2008
Michelle and Andy from Hidden Valley were very eager to add another greyhound to their family. It just so happened that My Gal Sal, now named Dory, was the perfect fit for them and she was ready and waiting for them in a foster home in Santa Rosa. Lola, their first greyhound, must be very happy to have another of her kind around!

June 27, 2008
George, now Giorgio, can't believe his good fortune--his new parents are in love with him and they completely dote on him. Rick and Sandie of Santa Rosa consider themselves pretty lucky, too--Giorgio is the perfect addition to their family.

June 21, 2008
Look how delighted Christie is with her new beautiful brood matron, Sydney. This huge smile comes after getting up at 3am to drive down to pick up the new houndies in Santa Nella. Sydney has fit in well with Fang (see below!) and the kitties and is enjoying her retirement. Look at Sydney's face--doesn't get much sweeter than that!

June 7, 29008
Zipidy-do headed to Sacramento as a "foster" hound. Don't tell Roy's wife, Karen, that Roy secretly knew Zipidy-do, now Greta, would become their new permanent family member. It didn't take long for this sweet brood mom to weasel her way into the hearts of her new foster parents, even though she was quite a bit larger and a tad bit older than what Karen and Roy were hoping for. With her sweet disposition, there were a few others ready and waiting to adopt her if Roy and Karen didn't. Congratulations to Roy, Karen and Greta!

May 10, 2008
Kevin and Michelle of Santa Rosa came to meet the new arrivals at our Retirement Party on May 10. Little did they know they would adopt Madison later that day! Maddie wiggles her way right into the heart of everyone she meets.

May 10,2008
Fang has made Christie a happy lady! Christie was very careful to make sure she was at the perfect place in her life to bring her perfect greyhound companion, Fang, home. (Now we're all keeping our fingers crossed that he stops whining in the house when Christie is at work!) Time and patience...Christie is certain everything will be fine!

Greg and Anastasia of Rohnert Park adopted Cricket back in November. Now that this happy girl is all settled in her home and has gotten over a few tick borne diseases, she was thrilled to participate in her first Meet & Greet. Maybe she will meet her local littermates, Madison and Cheri, both adopted through Wine Country Greyhound Adoption, too!

Mocha will be going home with Olga and Steven of the Sacramento area. This shy girl (who was featured in a newspaper article already!) should open right up when she is welcomed by Nikki and Emma, the two greyhounds waiting at home. Olga has reported that Mocha has already found her position in the pack while out on walks--right at the back! It's amazing that Mocha was such a winning racer at the track.

Helen and Andy of Santa Rosa were thrilled with every detail they learned about their new greyhound during the week prior to her adoption. They especially enjoyed her name, Red Eye Hannah. Little Hannah had a rocky start settling in--a little separation anxiety--but Helen and Andy were smitten. Their love and patience will certainly see them through.

Rosie and Milo were very lucky to be adopted together by Janis of McKinleyville. Normally we don't adopt two hounds at one time, but because of Janis' years of experience with greyhounds, we knew she could handle anything that came her way. Rosie and Milo couldn't have been a better match--perfect from day one!

Though Joan may think the whole "fostering" idea was a conspiracy, we think it was just luck that she happened to foster the cutest, tiniest, most loving greyhound who happened to fit in perfectly with Joan and Erik, their first greyhound, Task, and the kitties. It was very sweet that Joan hesitated to adopt her because she knows fostering is such an important service for WCGA. We certainly encourage foster volunteers to adopt their foster hound when she happens to fit in so well! Congrats, Joan and Erik!

The girls have been waiting quite awhile to bring Daphne home to Santa Rosa. They have been saving their coins in the "Greyhound Fund" for over a year. Daphne spent a few months in foster with two boys, so now we'll see how she likes a family of mostly females. With the new name Daisy, she is sure to fit in!

Kristy and Israel spent over a year researching what type of dog would work well with their family and guess what they came up with! Rio is a very affectionate, not quite 2 year old boy. It won't take long for Kristy and Israel to fall in love with this guy. It sounds like Rio will be going out and about quite often, so keep your eyes peeled for him in Rohnert Park!

Jennifer says there couldn't have been a more perfect greyhound for her family. Of course she said the same thing about the first hound she fostered. Boss Get Away became an official part of the Hope family and the kids promptly changed her name to Beauty. A perfect name for the perfect hound who now makes this perfect family complete. Cemil, Jennifer, Bodhi, Annie, Christopher, and Toshi the retriever couldn't be happier.

Bohemian Jot came to California from Florida. Jack and Susan were signed up to foster her, but knew they would probably adopt her. It took about 10 minutes for them to come to the decision to make Jot a permanent addition to the family. Jot joins Aaron and Trey the skin kids, Kato the Weimaraner, Rex the mini-pin, Tigger the cat and Ice Princess...what else but the snake.

Welcome to California, Zoe! This sweet little lady will be heading home to Sonoma with Rosemary. Zoe certainly has a kind, gentle demeanor--the perfect choice for Rosemary!

Joanie and Greg of Santa Rosa did a fabulous job fostering this little girl, Mopsey Martinez. Then they joined our "Failed Fosters" club by deciding to adopt her! Mopsey is now Ma Cheri and she is such a well behaved little girl--she gets along great with Tessa, the German Shepard cross, as well as all the cats, the horse and the mule! We love our failed fosters.

Susan and Alexis couldn't part with Gayle, their foster hound, when it came time for her to be adopted out. Gayle is now Macy and she fits in perfectly with Susan's family, which includes Truman the greyhound and two cats.

Renee and JP adopted Colbie just in time to take her on a road trip to Idaho for Thanksgiving. Colbie will surely have fun going to school with Renee--she is in her first year of vet school! She will keep everyone busy, that's for sure. She has a lot of fun, puppy energy!

David and Diane told us they wouldn't be good foster parents because they would want to adopt any animal that came into their home. About two hours after Rune went home as their "foster hound," we received a call to say they wanted to adopt him! He fits in perfectly with Poster, their first black greyhound.

Molly and George couldn't be happier with the recent addition to their family. Maggie fits in nicely with the whippets and their cats. She learned the dog door within minutes and she walks well on her leash...and she is cute as could be!

Michelle sure is happy to have Whitney home, safe and sound. When Whitney arrived in California, we found that her sutures from her spay surgery had opened up. We rushed her to Petcare in Santa Rosa and they were able to close her back up. Needless to say, Whitney was much more comfortable and Michelle could breathe a sigh of relief.

Odie finally found his new home and is now called Safari. Who knew the foster home he was in for weeks would become his permanent one? (Anyone who saw Tracey and Chris with Odie would have known!)

What a beauty this 2 year old Racer is. What an appropriate new name! Karen will be sure to have fun with this guy. Though Sonoma is Racer's new home, he plans to spend a lot of time in San Francisco. Because of this, we requested a hound for Karen that could easily negotiate stairs (occasionally that is a little issue for greyhounds). Racer was actually tested on the stairs at the City Hall before being loaded up for his trip to California.

Susan is anxious to get home to Santa Rosa with Bella, her new beauty. Bella is eager to enjoy the California sunshine after months of rain in Oklahoma. Life as a retired greyhound, with fluffy beds and toys everywhere, playdates and M&Gs to attend and a doting mom will be far different from her track life. Welcome home, Bella. (And thanks for not watching Oakdale mark his newfound territory behind you!)

Say "Cheese!" Libby doesn't look too thrilled about the bath, something she has never experienced before. She probably didn't like having all the ticks picked off of her either. Samantha looks pretty darned happy to bathe her new pal at our most recent Retirement Party. Our newest batch of rescued racers came from Oklahoma and went directly to the Pet Food Express to be bathed before heading to their forever homes. Libby is headed to Healdsburg with Samantha, tick and flea free and nice and fluffy soft!

Star is a very deserving superstar for sure. She raced until she broke her rear left leg, a common injury for racing greyhounds. Then she had puppies. Now, at 8 years old, she is ready to relax at home with Vivian in Sonoma. Bless you, Vivian, for providing a loving home for this brood matron. Vivian is learning that everything we say about broods is true--they are wonderfully loving hounds who truly appreciate a nice place to retire.

Nikki will be very happy and at home with Olga and Steven in Sacramento. She is looking forward to the obedience class she is already signed up for. Maybe she'll be able to teach the greyhound next door a thing or two.

Sharon could hardly wait to meet her new little girl, Polly. Adopting sight unseen was unfamiliar for Sharon, but she is thrilled with her Polly as promised! Polly is adjusting to retirement in Petaluma and her new kitty siblings are coping.

Leslie and Phil knew Ferrari was the foster dog they wanted to adopt because she is crazy just like the rest of the family! We give foster families first crack at adopting their foster hound. It didn't take long for this family to make the decision to adopt Ferrari, their third foster. She gets along well with skin kid Logan, with Forrest and Phoenix the whippets and with Bailey the cat.

Zeke and Jean brought Rebel Cause home in January. Rebel is now Jaldi and she sure is happy in Napa. This little lady did well as a racer and then almost died while delivering her first litter during a horrible Oklahoma storm. We are all happy Jaldi was so determined to survive, but Zeke and Jean are the lucky ones who get to wake up with her every day.

Indigo is now known as Babalu. She packed her bags and moved to Fairfield with Ginger, Stephen and her new greyhound sister, Cricket.

Flash is a lucky guy to find the perfect home with such a great family in the Sacramento area.. Michael and Catie are sure to keep Flash busy. Now it looks like Rob and Gwen will be a tad busier as well.

Chase is very happy to come home to Santa Rosa with his new mom, Jenny. He's a little on the shy side, but his confidence will continue to grow. Within a few months, Jenny won't remember that shy ever described him.

Sheila headed home to Ferndale with Elaine and Robert. Lulu the chihuahua is quite delighted with Sheila while Cyrano, her new greyhound sibling, could take her or leave her. All that really matters is that Elaine and Robert love her!

Sheri fell in love with Cola Largo when she first read her profile and saw her photo on our website. Cola is now CoCo and is home in Napa with Sheri, her two boys, a chihuahua, two kitties, and Greysha the greyhound...one BIG and HAPPY family!

Bre is already making herself at home in Vacaville with Nathan and Stephanie. This sweet little girl came to California from the Caliente racetrack in Mexico. We're sure she is much happier in California with new doting parents and a Boxer roommate to play with.

Jetta, now Greta, joined The Farmer family, including Mike and Juliet, and cats Flynn and Moxie, in October, after Jill and Creed showed her the ropes in her foster family. Greta loves to play with her extended family, including Hayden and Harmony, Gracie and Siggy, whenever she gets the chance.

DD, now Asia, is HOME! The Beal Family of Santa Rosa had originally come to us looking for a younger dog for their family of four. After reexamining their true reason for adopting a greyhound (to give a deserving retired racer a loving, secure home), they decided that age wasn't the biggest factor. When they met Asia, they realized that she was truly the dog for them, and threw out any preconceived ideas--we're sure they made the right decision. Asia is a vivacious girl of 6, who is already worming her way into their hearts.

Well, looks like Ruben (right) has been doing his ambassadog duties: he's been such a fabulous boy, Paula decided that she wanted to add another grey to the family. The lovely Pearl (left) will now be known as Chimay.

Willow has found a new home with Deanna in Santa Rosa. She's got a new terrier sister, and a kitty, too!

Ruben is going to love living in Napa with Paula and her brother, Tim. He will have plenty other Wine Country Greyhounds to play with, including Fanny who lives right down the street! Hopefully his new canine sister will soon accept that his specialty is sleeping, not playing. She is a pointer mix and can surely play forever.

Sheri from Napa was so excited to finally adopt her new pal, the beautiful Greysha. She gets to go home to a houseful of friends: 2 "skin kids," and lots of dogs and cats of various shapes and sizes! One thing's sure: she won't be lonely!

Sara and Gerry came out to bathe their new boy, Granger, at Pet Food Express just as soon as he rolled into Petaluma! He sure is a handsome guy, and sure to be properly adored his is new greyhound-savvy home!

Sweet Galen arrived in Petaluma in rough shape: cuts and scrapes, full of fleas, and with an old injury to her leg and the end of her nose. Chris was able to look beyond all of that and see her for the beautiful, loving girl she truly is. Galen is now living happily in Tiburon with her new "mom" who dotes on her--this deserving girl has finally found peace and comfort. She's still getting used to living with her new "furry greyhound" (Tibetan Terrier) brother, Yogi!

Pretty Penny is off to live with Jamie and Scott in Santa Rosa. Penny made quite a first impression on the volunteers who went to pick her up (you'll have to ask Jamie and Scott for the details!)

Lola has found her home with Andy, Nick and Michelle in Hidden Valley.  Her new human "sister," canine and feline pals were waiting at home for her when this photo was taken.

Joe's found his new family! Meet Moe (yep, Moe & Joe), Ken & Aimee, all of Petaluma. When Aimee emailed WCGA her subject title was "Joe's been waiting for me!" I think she was right! Okay, guys, all together now: "JOE!!!!"

IC, now sporting the much more lovely name of Gracie, has found her new home in Sacramento with Susan and Gary.

Russia is moving to Oakland! Yep, she's found a new home, a new family, and a new doggy brother, Teddy.

Zephyr (AKA Tim) has found a home in Forestville with two acres of "yard" to romp in! Ginny and Rich's son and daughter-in-law have had greyhounds for many years, and they finally decided they had to have one of their own!  Now Zephyr gets the pleasure of the company of his greyhound pal, Maggie, without having to share "Mom & Dad."

Amy and Drew are ready to take Siggy home to Sacramento. With everything falling into place, his new home just seems meant to be. I'm sure their beagle, Audrey, and their cat will agree!

Figs is making herself quite at home in Rohnert Park with Conie & Kim. She's also been welcomed by her Corgi brothers...unfortunately, she seems to think she's as small as her Corgi brothers, too!

Well, it didn't take long after Cammie's arrival into Bobbie & Mary's home before they had to have another---Eddy sure looks happy to be part of the family!

Trixie will be spending her time as Ginny's new travel companion. She'll also enjoy time at home with the kids, her new pond and her new Scotties!

Here's lucky Dancer, at home with Mary Lou and Wayne in Napa. Her new sister, Coal, a glossy black lab mix wasn't available for this photo.

(I think she was probably recovering from the crazy running they were doing in the back yard!)

Levi, a shy guy, is making his new home in Sacramento with Lisa. She'll have a great time seeing his true personality emerge under her loving care.

Deric and Kristina were madly in love with Mimi even before they met her. When she met their two Chihuahuas, it was clear that she would fit in perfectly with her new family. They live very close to the Glen Ellen Dog Park, so they're sure to be "regulars" there! Oh, and Mimi's new name? Dora, because she's soooo aDORAble!

(Can you spell s-p-o-i-l-e-d??)

Chica found her new home with Carol and Ron in Ukiah. She's already settled in with Mollie the Hound and a couple of kitties. She will be sure to love her daily walks around Lake Mendocino!

Naked Chica hides her eyes from the camera while Tavisha gives her a bath. This photo was taken the day Chica came to California from Oklahoma. Tavhisha has been volunteering for WCGA as part of her high school senior project. Tavisha and her family fostered Chica from the time she came off the track until she found her forever home with Carol and Ron. Chica immediately took to Tavisha and they were inseparable for almost two months. Hard to let her go?? You bet, but Tavisha is ready for her next foster named Trixie. Thanks, Tavisha--you're doing a great job!

Frances and Craig met Adam and instantly fell in love. They first met greyhounds at the Sonoma County Home Show a couple of years ago and when they were ready to adopt a dog, the greyhounds were the first thing that came to mind. Lucky Adam! Lucky Frances and Craig, too!

Chicago, now Sophie, has found a home with Ilene and Jim and her new greyhound sister, Kyra, in Santa Rosa. The girls are going to get a lot of love and pampering--beds in every room!

Credos, the lovely former brood matron, has a new home with Bobbie and Mary, and a new, more feminine name: Cammie.  Cammie is going to live in Napa with some kitty companions...but Bobbie and Mary are already considering adding another hound to the mix! Stay tuned for updates.

Jennifer came in to California, took a bath, and went on her way to her new home with Nancy and Rick in Napa---all in the same day!

Little Hannah will surely enjoy her new home in Sausalito. Jo is completely prepared to spoil her!

Zelda, the beautiful blue hound, has found the perfect home in Napa with Christina and Bandit, her new greyhound brother, and two kitties.

When Michelle met her new greyhound, Smudge, it was love at first sight. Smudge is a lucky girl!

Joanne is taking Sadie home to Windsor to meet her son, Ted. (Rumor has it that Sadie is a little unnerved by her new feline housemates!)

Sharon and Gary have given the handsome Tacoma a new home in Oakmont. Something tells me he's going to be one pampered pup! And his new best friend Badger lives just around the corner!

Here is a picture of Kathy & Bill of Redwood Valley with Pele (Hawaiian goddess of the volcano). Pele (formerly known as Mitzi) is now at home with a Weimeraner sister, two cats, two horses, numerous sheep and one llama. I don't think she'll ever be lonely again!

Poster has been adopted by Diane and David Einstein and Poster will be spending her retirement years on long walks with Diane and David, as well as lounging by the pool.

Bones, formerly Tony, was adopted by Rick and Leslie.  In addition to new parents, Bones will also have feline siblings. Lucky Bones often accompanies Leslie to the school where she teaches. Can you imagine how much  both greyhound and children enjoy that?!

Jackie is thrilled to have Lady join the family in Napa. Lady will have plenty of company with her Yorkie, kitty, and guinea pig housemates. Jackie and Gary's grandkids and the neighborhood kids are sure to keep her entertained as well.

Molly is already making herself at home with Melinda in Yountville. Molly will be busy keeping everyone company at the Yountville Veteran's Home.

Blaze is now retired, lounging poolside in Sonoma with Lee and Mary.  What a GREYT retirement!!

This is Tess who came in from Oklahoma early this morning. She's already making herself right at home with her new family. Peggy & Ken should have no problem getting Tess trained (they're both professionals) but that's only if Tess doesn't get them trained first.

Dan, Anna & Leigha decided that they couldn't part with their foster hound, former brood matron, Jill (foreground), so now Creed has a new sister! They've become the best of pals.

Meet Terry and Bob, and their new pup, Nikki (AKA Velvet). Nikki is a lucky girl: she's going to live in Sacramento with parents who have a long history of greyhound rescue (including co-founding a group in Maryland), and a pack of three other greyhound siblings, and a Malamut/Golden Retriever mix!

Kiska is working on becoming the world's most spoiled greyhound. Michele and Barent in Napa are pretty spoiled by this lovely little hound too.

Jerry and Kathy have been waiting for their little girl for the last few weeks. Annie certainly impressed them with her beauty and smarts. She's obviously gorgeous and she went through the dog door within five minutes in her new home!

Hayden is headed to his new home with doting parents Deanne and Julie and his canine sister and feline siblings. What a beauty Hayden is--even though Deanne said his mugshot on the Available Greyhounds page wasn't the most flattering.

Nodak Crazy Legs has a new family and a new name. The kids agreed her name should be Java. She does seem like a greyhound on caffeine--this little girl has lots of energy.

Carbry Ninfe will now enjoy a name everyone can pronounce! Patricia and Dave will call her Zoe, a perfect name for such a sweet girl. Paige, Zoe's new sister, is going to love her!

Venus is all healed up from her broken leg and is ready to go to her new home in Sonoma with Laurinda and John. Her three sisters (two kitties and one doggie) are anxiously awaiting her arrival.

Chiquita has moved happily into her new home with Rita and Frank in Novato. Frank and Rita are also retired, so all three of them will be spending their retirement years together.

Peggy Sue was adopted by Joyce (left) with coaxing, and support, from her daughters: Terry came with her to pick up Peggy from the mall. Seems fitting since Peggy Sue is certainly a (fashion) model greyhound in this pose!

Dennis finds his forever home with Bill and Mark in Kenwood. He's become a favorite of the neighborhood dogs and their people.

Pazzo Idalula, now Tara, heads home to Healdsburg to spend her senior years with Joanie and Mike. During her career as a brood matron, Tara was known to sun herself on her doghouse roof. She won't need to do that now because she'll be on her cushy bed next to Mike and Joanie.

Lori fell in love with Image at a Petco Meet & Greet in Napa. Image, now Fanny, has a new mom and a new kitty sibling.

They won't even look at each other, but we're sure they'll be fast friends.  Lois and Cody have opened their home in Sonoma to WCGA's first brood matron, the 8 year old Dreamer.

Cody has moved in with Lois and her daughter!

Creed with his new mom, Anna. Dan and Leah are waiting at home for him.

Meesah (AKA Jewel) certainly came out of her shell for Kathy. She now lives in Santa Rosa with all of Kathy's kitties and farm animals.

True lives in Sonoma with Mark, Michelle, Mr. & Mrs. Poodle, and Boo, the cat.

It didn't take long for Truman of Santa Rosa to sweep Susan off her feet. He had to work a little harder to convince one of her cats that he was a nice addition to the family, however.
